WhatsApp reaches 400 million monthly active users in India
According to a TechCrunch report, a WhatsApp spokesperson confirmed that instant messaging service had reached 400 million monthly active users in India. In 2017, the Facebook-owned instant messaging platform had publicised that it had reached 200 million users in the country. At the event, Kant also added that in the next three years, the service would reach more than one billion users.
We are not sure if that turns out real, as a Cisco study says by 2022, there will be 800 million smartphone users. As per CounterPoint research, at present India has about 450 million smartphone users, and by 2022, it could reach 700 million.
WhatsApp also plans to launch its WhatsApp Pay payment service in India publicly. At this time, not everyone has access to the function within the existing application.
