Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and MLC T. Jeevan Reddy on Friday alleged that the Central Government did not consider granting National Project status to Kaleshwaram Project as the Telangana Government has failed to send the Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Jeevan Reddy accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao of misleading the people of Telangana over Kaleshwaram project issue. He said demanding the Centre to grant National Status for a project without sending its DPR amounts to cheating the people. He asked that the Chief Minister to clarify the reasons for doing so and furnish the details of communications the State Government had with the Centre on the issue. He said if the DPR has been sent, then a Privilege Motion could be moved against the Centre in Rajya Sabha.

Jeevan Reddy said that the Chief Minister should release a White Paper on Kaleshwaram Project and accept failure in getting National Status for the project. He alleged that both BJP Government at the Centre and TRS Government in the State were doing injustice with the people of Telangana. He said that the wrong policies and approach of both the governments was pushing the people into a huge debt crisis.
