Hyderabad: International summer tennis camp jersey unveiled

Hyderabad: Croatian coach Duje Tomasovic and Dr Adnan Altav Altinors, Consulate General of Turkey, jointly unveiled the jerseys for the upcoming summer camp at Hyderabad Polo and Riding Club on Friday.

The high-voltage international summer tennis camp-2020 scheduled to be held in the end of March will be organised by Academia Sports Village at the ultra-modern tennis courts housed within the Hyderabad Polo and Riding Club (HPRC) complex at Aziz Nagar.

The camp, which is sponsored by real estate developer, Status One Project, will be conducted by chief mentor and eminent A-Grade ATP coach Duje Tomasovic, who runs the popular Tenis Klub at Split in Croatia.

A two-day interaction session and fitness programme for children and parents with coach Duje will be held on February 1 and 2 at Hyderabad polo Riding Club Aziznager Hyderabad.

The summer camp is held as an exchange program where in the best players from Academia Sports Village will get a chance to be with Tenis Klub at Split in Croatia for a 15-day training there.

Academia Sports Village a Hyderabad-based multiple sports promoter which has been set up to serve the interest of sports in India, especially tennis, joined hands with prominent A- grade Croatian coach Duje Tomasovic.

Duje said he intends to put in place an organised system where each child will be able to choose the mode of training that suits them well. "The age of five to seven is the best to start tennis. India is a much bigger country than Croatia. There is plenty of talent here.

We need to start more academies like this and conduct more events to make the children better players," he said adding that his doors are always open to youngsters for an exchange programme.

Talking about the programme details during a media event, Mohammad Shamsuddin, CEO of Academia Sports Village said that Sports Village is trying to do their best to rope in world-class coaches from across the world and the best academies for football and tennis.

"We were trying to bring in Duje Tomasovic to Hyderabad for around three years. He has got a wealth of experience as a coach and was in Beijing with the Chinese national team during the Olympics."

Duje has mentored some of the finest international stars from Croatia and is the head coach of Tennis Club Split from where players like G Ivanusevic, M Ancic, N Pilic, Z Franukovic, J Kostanic and P Martic rose to fame. Children in Hyderabad will enjoy his training methods," Shamsuddin said.

Dr Adnan Altav Altinors appreciated Shamsuddin for his efforts to bring best of best coaches form different academies from European countries, and added that the new coach will help the Hyderabad youngsters to do well in tennis.
