Watch: Bangladesh PM West Bengal Chief Minister ring the bell at Eden Gardens to flag off the pink Test
In a historic moment in Indian cricket, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rang the bell at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to begin the first pink ball Test on Indian soil. The dignitaries were accompanied by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and other top officials of Indian cricket.
Sharing the video on Twitter, the BCCI wrote, "Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Mamata Banerjee, Honourable Chief Minister, West Bengal ring the bell at the iconic Eden Gardens."
Earlier, prior to the game's start, the Bangladesh Prime Minister, West Bengal Chief Minister and legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar greeted Team India and the coaching staff at the stadium.
The final Test of the series will see the players from both teams embrace a relatively new form of cricket with a pink ball. Expected to be witnessed by thousands of enthusiastic spectators at one of India's favourite venues, the Test marks the first instance of witnessing the longest format of the game unfold under lights in India.
Coming to the game, Bangladesh's Mominul Haque won the toss and elected to bat first. While India went with an unchanged squad, the visitors made two changes to their team from the previous Test at Indore.
