Sri Amma Arts staged a verse play 'Bharatavarsham' at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on Monday evening. The play was written and directed by Anandagiri.

The writer has taken a tough and rare story from Shrimad Bhagavatam. Normally the play producers will search for a popular story line to attract the audience. But the writer has chosen this play to popularise the name of Bharatvarsha and how the name of Bharatavarsha has came into existence.

The treatment of the play was a little confusing, because the drama did not fully reveal the story of the Bharta. The scenes were very short and the audience could not enjoy the cream of the drama because of discontinuity of story. However the attempt is appreciable and it will become good show if the directors put some more efforts on script and stage-play.

The main characters were played by Ch Adinarayana Sastry (Bharata), G Mohana Rao (Rishabha) and O Bosubabu (Nabhi raju).  The others characters were played by Ramayogi, K Apparao, SS Varma, R Anantakrishna, DRK Murthy, G Krishna, Anthoni, Nagaraju, J Ramakrishna, Lakshmi, M Lakshmi, Y Bhavani, Vijaya, Chandini, R Rajeswarai, Sushmitha and many others.

Technical support was rendered by Surabhi Ganesh (make up and sets), M Vasudeva Murthy, Tirupatayya (Music), R Mohana kirshan (Lighting).
In a brief meeting after the play, Dr Turlapati Kutumba Rao, Varla Ramaiah expressed that the drama should be given more encouragement.
