Tight security in place at counting centre
Khammam: The District Collector R V Karnan on Monday informed that the counting of votes will be held at Vijaya Engineering College from 8 am on December 11(Tuesday) in Khammam.
Later speaking to meadia, RV Karnana said that three-layer security arrangements were made along with imposing 144 section in the surrounding area of Vijaya Engineering College where the counting will be done from 8 am on Tuesday.
“We are fully prepared and geared up for the counting day tomorrow,” he added. He expressed his happiness over high percentage of voter turnout in the district which is recorded as more than 85 percent in all the five Assembly constituencies present in the district with Madhira recorded as the highest in the State.
He appreciated the media persons for extending their cooperation because of which the police department are able to provide tight security arrangements in the risk prone areas for the smooth conduct of the elections process.
Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal, who was also present at the press meet, said that with the information provided by the media persons, the police department had taken precautionary measures before hand for preventing the untoward incidents.
The CRPF jawans are deployed at the counting centre. They will allow only those journalists who have pass with them by checking their details in the log book at the entrance. Water bottles and mobiles are not allowed into the counting centre. They will have to deposit them in the cloak room arranged at the entrance.
Stringent actions will be taken against those who conduct demonstration without taking prior permission, warned the CP. All the politicians and political parties must cooperate with the police personnel for the smooth conduct of the counting process, he appealed.
