Telangana Govt staff yet to get postal ballot
Nagarkurnool: Despite the government employee’s protest and heated argument with the tahasil officer, the later has still not issued the postal ballots to the staffs who were deputed on election duty though the votes will be counted on Tuesday.
Meanwhile jumping in support of the government employees, Achampet Congress MLA contestant Dr Vamshi Krishna along with the employees staged a protest and threatened to go on a strike if the District Collector does not take action against Achampet Revenue Division Officer (RDO) and Vangoor tahasildar for the inordinate delay in the issue of postal ballots to the employees.
Dr. Vamshi Krishna alleged that the Achampet RDO and Vangoor Tahasildar are hand in glove with the TRS contestant and are wontedly delaying the issuance of the postal ballots to more than 100-200 employees under Achampet constituency.
“The employees applied for the postal ballots between Nov 13-28 last month, but due to the apathy of Vangoor tahasildar and Achampet RDO the employees have not been issued the postal ballots.
The RDO’s behavior and comments with some employees are against the Election Commission’s norms. The RDO repeatedly have spoken light about the issue and not issuing postal ballots to employees citing various reasons. The District Collector must take action against such irresponsible RDO and Tahasildar,” said Vamshi Krishna.
Earlier more than 100-200 government employees who were deputed for the election duty reached Vangoor tahasildar’s office and entered into an altercation with tahasildar Nagamani and questioned her for delay in the issue of postal ballots.
Later Dr. Vamshi Krishna also reached the spot and asked the tahasildar reasons for the delay of the postal ballots. “The Vangoor tahasildar and Achampet RDO are behaving irresponsibly by not issuing the postal ballots to the employees who had taken part in the election duties.
If the RDO and tahasildar not issue the postal ballots in time, I fear more than 100 votes of these employees will go waste as they do not have much time to submit it to the Returning Officer,” said Vamshi Krishna.
The Congress contestant said that the Vangoor tahasildar Nagamani is behaving irresponsibly and should be suspended as she is inordinately delaying to issue to the postal ballots to the employees on election duty.
