Khammam: The construction works of check dam on the Munnetiwagu between Ramakrishnapuram and Pandregipalli villages of Mudigonda mandal which was inaugurated in 2014 with an investment of Rs 32 crore for supplying water for about 5,000 acres of land are going on at a snail’s pace.

The construction of check dam is aimed to supplying water for both irrigation and drinking needs of people living in both Chintakani and Mudigonda mandals of Khammam district.

Proposals are prepared for storing 10 feet of water with the construction of nine kilo-meter long check dam over Munneruwagu along with construction of left canal for supplying water for about 2,500 acres of land in Ramakrishnapuram, Namavaram, Sithampet, Chinnamandav and Pollampali villages of Chintakani mandal. Plans are also that with the construction of right canal water could be supplied for about 2,500 acres of land in six villages of Mudigonda mandals.

The government also sanctioned Rs 1.30 crore as grant for the farmers who lost their land due to construction works of right canal in Mudigonda mandal.

The farmers of Mudigonda mandal alleged that the construction works which were started five years back in 2014 with the initiation taken by the then local MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka are going at a snail’s pace due to the negligence of the contractors and improper vigilance of the concerned government officials. People are pinning their hopes on the new government which will be formed after the Assembly election scheduled on December 7 in the State.
