Lubna Sarwat showers promises on Karwan
Hyderabad: Social activist turned politician Dr Lubna Sarwath on Thursday released her manifesto for the voters of Karwan, the constituency from which she is contesting on the ticket of Socialist Party (India). With her motto being ‘be fearless, free Karwan from fear and force’, she claims to focus exclusively on the Karwan constituency with her promise of providing safety, empowerment, pollution and generating employment.
Being an activist who worked for protection of lakes, she promises to protect lakes, channels and Musi river from pollution and encroachment. Besides this, she also promises to protect Wakf properties and help poor get education and health benefits. “I will ensure that everyone, as a resident of Karwan gets the amenities that I get as an MLA. For example, I assure you that if MLA gets water at 6am, all Karwanees should get water at 6am, not at 2am and not at any indefinite times, she explains.
If the MLA gets lifelong pension of about 30,000 after getting elected, then how can Rs1000 pension be enough for single or old women, she asks. If MLA house road is free from potholes and sewage water flows, citizens too should have no potholes-ridden roads and suffer from sewage issues before their houses. There can be no two laws or systems for people’s representatives and their electors i.e., people, she contends.
Amongst her promises are restoration of Shah Hatem Talab, Naya Qila Talab, Jamali Kunta, Langar Houz, Golconda Pond, Ibrahim Talab, Moosi nadi etc; eradicating sewage and chemical water issues and stopping any pollution from upstream areas like Hi-Tec, Jubilee Hills from entering lakes of Karwan constituency area; clearing of giant weeds and one-time thorough bio-cleansing of lakes etc. She also promises to restore Zia Guda Kamela as the prime livestock centre of Hyderabad. “I will strive to standardise it and implement solid and animal waste rules in and around the Kamela, in order to maintain optimum hygiene and cleanliness for health of people and livestock,” she adds.
