Rebel trouble subsides

Warangal: Rebel trouble subsided to many a candidate in several constituencies spread across the erstwhile Warangal district on the last day of nominations on Thursday.

It was a huge relief for the Mahakutami supported Telugu Desam candidate for Warangal West constituency Revuri Prakash Reddy. Thanks to the efforts of the Congress leadership, which convinced District Congress Committee (DCC) President Naini Rajender Reddy to withdraw from the contest.

Naini, who has been working hard to strengthen the party for over three decades, was a strong contender for the ticket. Naini said: “As a disciplined party worker, I withdrew my nomination in the larger interests of the party and the Mahakutami. Congress leadership promised me a suitable position in the future. I have been a loyal soldier and remain so,” he said.  

In the Warangal East constituency, TRS leader Errabelly Pradeep Rao, who filed his nomination, had withdrew from the contest. Senior leaders Kadiyam Srihari, KT Rama Rao and Baswaraj Saraiah managed to convince Pradeep Rao.

The Congress rebel candidate from Warangal East constituency Rajanala Srihari also withdrew his nomination. Speaking on the occasion, he alleged that some Congress rebel candidates withdrew from the poll fray after receiving bribes to the tune of Rs 2 crore from the Mahakutami candidates. 

He accused the Congress leadership of selling tickets to parachute candidates. Rajanala Srihari said that people will not vote for Mahakutami candidate of the Congress Vaddiraj Ravichandra as he is a non-local. 

The other candidates, who withdrew their nominations, are Chippa Venkateshwarlu, Acha Vidyasagar and Poshala Padma. BJP Warangal Urban president Rao Padma Reddy also withdrew her nomination in favour of party’s official candidate for Warangal West Marthineni Dharma Rao. She appealed to cadres to work for the victory of Dharma Rao.
