India’s prowess seen soaring in aerospace

Hyderabad: Scientists from various organisations highlighted the important advancements that took place in aerospace sector at the  11th National Conference and Exhibition on Aerospace and Defence Related Mechanisms, organised by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex and ISRO, in association with Indian National Society for Aerospace and Related Mechanism (INSARM), Hyderabad Chapter, and BITS Pilani of Hyderabad here on Friday. 

‘Advances and Challenges in Aerospace and Defence Related Mechanisms’ was the theme of the conference. Dr Tessy Thomas, Director-General at Aero, DRDO, highlighted new developments and capabilities of aerospace and defence related mechanisms. The conference aimed at highlighting the advances in design and development, fabrication, testing and analysis, as well as futuristic concepts of aerospace and defence-related mechanisms. The event has brought in scientists, academia, professionals and related entrepreneurs from aerospace and defence sectors on a single platform.

Dr S Somnath, director at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), ISRO, gave a brief history about the design and development of aerospace and defence related mechanisms at ISRO. He emphasised the objectives of INSARM and ARMS. Prof G Sundar, director at BITS, Dr KM Rajan, director at ARDE, and Dr MRM Babu, director at ASL, welcomed the dignitaries and delegates and briefed about the conference.  Dr V Venkateswara Rao, director at Centre for Advanced Systems, DRDO, and Chairman at Organising Committee (ARMS) highlighted the tremendous advancements that took place in aerospace sector.
