Power outages leave citizens fuming

Update: 2018-11-10 05:30 IST

KPHB Colony: Several families in KPHB Colony Phase I are reeling under power shortage and are forced to buy water as three-phase power has been down for the last four days. Borewells are also not working in the area. House owners are spending Rs 500 to 600 per tanker to mee their emergency needs. Continuous representations made by locals are falling on deaf ears of authorities, they rue.

Inadequate water supply and load shedding since last Tuesday are causing severe hardships to the people. Multi-storeyed houses have many portions with four to five families in each building and the water supplied by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board is not sufficient for multiple families. All of them now have to depend on bore wells to meet their daily needs. At least a day is required to get the water tanker as all tankers are engaged in hostel services on daily basis.  “On Diwali day, officials were not available.

Linemen visited on Friday and said that there was a problem in the transformer. We have been complaining for the last four days,” said Mohan, a resident. Speaking to The Hans India, Assistant Divisional Engineer of electricity department, Kukatpally, Srinivas Reddy said, "There is a problem with the transformer. The problem has been identified and would be resolved soon."
