Charminar: In an instance of how bogus votes have crept into Electoral Rolls, an open plot in Khilwat has over a dozen names registered as voters. Despite complaint to the Election Commission about this before the final publication, the names were not removed. This small plot in Khilwat under Charminar constituency remained vacant for the past two years after razing of the existing structure is believed to have only 2-members of a family earlier.

Greater Hyderabad Minority Vice President, Mohammed Ahmed who lodged a complaint the matter to the local officials before the final publication of the voter list alleged that despite written complaint to verify the list there has been no change in final list and the names with sir name Syed continue to exist. “I reside in this locality and I was surprised to find voters on this open plot and approached the local officials to ensure that names are deleted. I also submitted a written complaint on October 3 to the Higher Officials. On my request even the Zonal Commissioner had asked the officials verify. I hoped that these names would be deleted from the new list, but after publication of final list the names continued to exist. What’s the purpose of inviting complaints when the verification process remains inefficient?” he asks.

According Ahmed, the entire areas of Shalibanda, Qazipura and nearby localities have plenty of bogus votes. He alleged that local officials in connivance with other political parties were engaged in maintaining the bogus votes and even the verification process remained an ‘eye-wash’. “I shall be approaching Chief Electoral Officer shortly to ensure that take up the matter of bogus votes,” he noted.

It may be mentioned here that recently Mahakutami probable candidate Ali Bin Ibrahim Masqati submitted a complaint to the State Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar alleging that Charminar Assembly constituency has thousands of bogus voters. To back his claim, Masqati submitted 18 spiral bounded books giving details of voter’s list categorised as the door-locked and another two books comprising details of the voters identified under shifted from their addresses, in the voters' lists.

Even MBT leaders met Shruti Ojha, Returning Officer for Yakutpura Constituency and gave a detailed representation with statistical data of more than 15,000 Non-Existing, Double, Multiple, Fake, Bogus voters in voter rolls with micro detail of EPIC card numbers, polling station numbers and door numbers.
