Flying squad seizes saris, T-shirts

Wardhannapet (Warangal Rural): The Flying Squad of the Election Commission (EC), which seized a consignment of saris, T-shirts and other items on Saturday night, lodged a complaint with the Police against Wardhannapet TRS candidate Aroori Ramesh and Gundla Subhash for violating election code.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the Child Development Project Officer Vanga Padma, who is the in-charge of Flying Squad to Wardhannapet Assembly constituency, raided the house of Gundla Subhash of Dammannapet along with the Model Code of Conduct Team and found 145 saris, 160 T-shirts (Pink colour with KCR photo in front and back), and cricket kits.  

Sub-inspector Sampath Bandari registered a case. Meanwhile, the Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil said the elections authority has intensified raids as part of ensuring model code of conduct so that elections would be conducted in a fair manner. “So far, the authorities have seized cash and other items worth around Rs 25 lakh during checks in the district,” he said.

It is learnt that the officials registered a case against Kakkarla Rajani Kumar and Kurra Arun for illegally transporting 1,500 sarees at Chintha Nekkonda Cross Road.
