Talk on farmers’ woes

Update: 2018-11-01 05:30 IST

Lamakaan Programming Team is organising a talk on ‘Farmer’s Displacement Battles’ by Rachna Reddy, a practising advocate at High Court of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, on November 3 from 7 pm onwards on its premises.

We hear stories of agrarian crisis and farmers’ suicides almost every day. Farmers are fighting for their livelihoods because of the anti-farmers policies adopted by the government. On the other hand, farmers’ lands are being illegally acquired by Multi National Companies (MNCs) and government. The farmers are uprooted from their agricultural lands and are displaced.

The recent attack on farmers in Delhi on October 2 tells a sorry state of affairs and the treatment meted out to them. The ‘Delhi Chalo’ call is a protest march against the anti-farmers’ policies, and a way to tell the government that farmers are in turmoil and seek justice. In the talk Rachana Reddy will focus on the issues of farmers’ displacement battles and what are the legal avenues available to them to fight out these perennial battles.
