Congress out to quell rebel trouble

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has launched a major operation to curb rebel trouble in the forthcoming elections. The operation involves persuading those disappointed by the denial of ticket to work for the success of official nominees in their respective constituencies. The Congress is expected to announce the list of its candidates soon.. 

All India Congress screening committee chairman Bhaktha Charan Das and TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy began the exercise on Saturday and it would continue for the next two days. According to party leaders, Charan Das invited the party leaders from such constituencies where the rebel trouble is expected and held discussions with them. Charan Das and Uttam Kumar Reddy invited those who sought the party ticket to Hyderabad and exhorted them to work for the success of the party candidates. 

The Congress party is likely to announce its candidates on November 1. The TPCC chief left for Delhi on Saturday. He is expected to stay in Delhi for the next two days to complete exercise of finalising the list of candidates. 

The party leaders said that there is a rush for party ticket. In some constituencies three to four aspirants have been vying with each for the party ticket. The Congress leadership has expressed the fear that those, who are denied the ticket, may turn rebels. The leadership has intended to ensure that rebel trouble is kept to a minimum. 

The party leaders are trying to explain to those who are likely to turn rebels that they will get due recognition after the party forms the government. The leadership is also assuring those, who are not likely to get the party ticket, that they will be given nominated posts.
