Students celebrate Hindi Divas

Khammam: The students of Century High School celebrated the Hindi Divas(Hindi Day) here at Jammibanda in Khammam on Friday. The students participated in various events like essay writing and quiz competitions, reciting poems and solving puzzles purely in Hindi to show their appreciation of the national languag.

Speaking on the occasion, school director DVS Prabhakar said, “the single Hindi word ‘Swadeshi’ uttered by Mahatama Gandhi brought revolution and inspired many Indians to fight against the British rule. Mahatma Gandhi used Hinid language to unite the whole nation during the freedom struggle as Hindi is the ‘language of unity.”

But the people in both Telugu speaking States show less interest in speaking Hindi and the children are facing it difficult to speak and write in Hindi due to lack of encouragement, he added.

Therefore, to make the students understand the importance of Hindi language several programmes are organised for students in the school on the occasion of Hindi Divas, he added.  Later, he handed over prizes to the students who performed well in various events that are organised on the occasion.
