Congress, TDP yet to decide candidate for Wanaparthy seat

Wanaparthy: The recent Congress and TDP alliance to contest elections united has lead to confusion over the final selection of the candidate for the Wanaparthy constituency.

There are speculations that the Congress and TDP parties are working hard to select Chinna Reddy, the sitting congress MLA or Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, former TDP MLA to contest the Wanaparthy seat.

However, at present with no clear cut decision taken, the congress and TDP cadre on the ground are in a state of confusion in Wanaparthy district. According to the Congress sources, discussion with regard to selection of candidates for the Wanaparthy constituency is yet to be taken as they are weighing on the pros and cons with regard to both the leading contestants from Congress and TDP.

“Congress has had an invincible edge over the TRS and the TDP party during the 2014 elections, however, with the historic pre-poll alliance between the congress and TDP, now the question has become much tougher as to who will have upper hand to contest the Wanaparthy seat.

While sitting MLA Chinna Reddy is already there in the fray to contest, but given the TDPs strong local cadre in Wanaparthy, there are also speculations that TDP leadership will force the congress to give up the seat in favour of TDP as part of their poll pact,” says political analyst from the congress party.

While TRS is confident of winning and already declared Singi Reddy Niranjan Reddy, vice chairman of the Planning commission as its candidate from Wanaparthy, with TDP and Congress forming alliance, it is predicted that TRS may face a tough fight in the upcoming elections.

“The Congress and TDP have lost their confidence of winning against TRS. Because of this they are forming unethical alliance and the people of Wanaparthy are not ready to accept it and definitely it will help the TRS. I am confidence that our Mantra of development and welfare will work well and we will wrest the Wanaparthy seat from congress in the upcoming elections,” expressed confidence Niranjan Reddy.
