Pragati Nivedana spreads Avedana among Opposition

Hyderabad: A verbal war broke out on Monday between the ruling and opposition party leaders on the Pragati Nivedana Sabha of TRS held on Sunday. While the TRS party leaders said that the meeting was a huge success, the opposition parties Congress, BJP and TDP said that it was a flop show with lukewarm response from the people. The TRS leaders addressed a series of press conferences at Telangana Bhavan stating that the meeting was a major success.

In a tongue-in-cheek comment, Minister T Srinivas Yadav said that the Congress leaders expected that the Chief Minister would attack them more and hence they were upset. “The name of the meeting itself was ‘Pragati Nivedana’, which meant presenting to the people what the government had done during the last four years. He further said that it would take hours if he began explaining all the works taken up by the government. MP B Suman lashed out at the Congress leaders for targeting the Chief Minister.

“The Congress party’s ‘new beggar’ Revanth and ‘old beggar’ Madhu Yashki and ‘Bommali’ D K Aruna and bearded baba Uttam are talking irresponsibly on the TRS meeting and the Chief Minister. “Why are these leaders jealous of our meeting?” he asked. The Congress party was misleading the people by stating that TRS promised one jobs in each family. The Chief Minister did not make this promise, he said and pointed out that the Congress leaders were “paper and TV tigers” and they were afraid of defeat in elections and hence they are targeting the Chief Minister.

While this is so, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Chief Minister's address was a disappointment for the jobless as he could not fill over two lakh vacancies in the government. Nearly 300 posts are vacant in Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) itself and that not even a single post of teacher was filled. Similarly, the backlog vacancies of SCs and STs have not been filled. Reddy said that if voted to power in the next elections, the Congress government would fill one lakh vacancies in the public sector and create another one lakh jobs in private sector through self-employment schemes within one year of coming to power.

Telangana BJP president K Laxman said that the Pragati Nivedana Sabha turned into a ‘KCR Avedana Sabha’. He said that no other political party had ever spent nearly Rs 300 crore, besides resorting to misuse of power and administration. He said that the meeting organised with much fanfare to project IT Minister KTR as his heir apparent ended in KCR sounding desperate with his entire speech remaining direction less. The early elections have been brought forth by KCR to cover up the government's failures in the last four years, he alleged.

TDP Telangana unit president L Ramana said that the Sabha drew lukewarm response as people were vexed with the TRS government. He said that not more than five lakh people, of the targeted 25 lakh, attended the meeting. The meeting was reflection of the unbridled corruption in the KCR government. The TRS spent money like water to setup hoardings, billboards and made arrangements for liquor supply to the party workers at the venue.
