Here is why people are shunning Kapra walking track
Kapra: Walking track on Kapra tank constructed with lakh of rupees become useless because of the negligence of officials. People refused to use it as the area filled with garbage and dust. Always opened gate, broken benches are reflecting pathetic condition of the walking track. Apart from this, hyacinth grown in the tanks spreads bad smell around the track. It also distances walkers from the track.
In fact, it has to be constructed inside fencing and two sides of the tank with a length of three kilometres. But the officials only constructed 600 metres walking track. They arranged big gate with small gate and benches. They also assured to provide security and toilets to the track. But all those promises become writing on water. Due to this walkers not interested to use it. As there is no security, it became haven to anti-social elements.
In the beginning days, the Kapra tank supplies drinking water to surrounding areas. But now as the same areas become colonies, the sewerage from those colonies contaminating the water in the tank. Now it was filled with sewerage and hyacinth. The tank produces bad smell to the colonies. Though the staff removed hyacinth from it, the same near the track was not removed.
If anybody wants to walk on it, they should close their nose to avoid bad smell. People questioned the very purpose of its construction. They alleged that public money was misused. One of the colony residents Sudugu Mahender Reddy criticised that the walking track not in a position to use by the walkers. He alleged that officials neglected its maintenance. He demanded security guard and removal of hyacinth. He also demanded construction of pending work of the walking track.
