Sports fever grips temple city Tirupati

Tirupati: Hundreds of Junior athletic players thronged the temple city Tirupati to participate in the National Inter-District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) on Friday. Across pan-India around  4,200 players  have reported as on Friday at   Athletic Federation of India  (A FI ) reception office at SV U Taraka Rama stadium which is the main arena of the meet. AFI officials confirmed that players came from  436 districts of different states.

At NIDJAM media centre, AFI secretary general CK  Valson addressing the media said that “ for the last four consecutive years AP state government has been hosting NIDJAM athletic meet. As part of that series now 16th NIDJAM meet will be held in temple city Tirupati”.

  He gave a call to the denizens of Tirupati city to come and view the athletic events directly at SVU stadium to make NIDJAM event a grand success, and also he added that all the NIDJAM events will be live telecasted through AFI web channel.

Valson informed that on Saturday,  16th NIDJAM will be inaugurated by the AP state Minsiters Atchannaidu and Kollu Ravindra. He thanked the   AP CM N Chandra Babu Naidu and Chittoor district Collector PS Pradyumna and other state sports department officials. District officials have made wonderful arrangements to players as well as team managers and coaches. They put all the efforts to success the NIDJAM event, AFI secretary appreciated.
 As part of NIDJAM 2018 on Friday evening AFI officials organised full dress rehearsals with all the state player contingents. Police band and players march past stood up as highlights of the full dress rehearsals.  Joint Collector -2 Chandra Mouli, AFI officials CK Valson, Raghavendra have supervised the full dress rehearsals.

As part of bandobust, duties were allotted to police personnel at all the entrances of SVU Taraka Rama stadium, DSP west sub division Kanaka Raju, UnIversity CI Chandra Shekar and other police officials finally inspected the bandobust arrangements on Friday evening. Regular vehicular traffic was diverted from the University road for free flow of NIDJAM vehicles. Police have set up metal detectors at all the entry points of varsity stadium.  In the view of players convenience, a huge food court was established very adjacent to stadium with 5,000 persons eating capacity at a time. For having food sports department officials have issued breakfast, lunch, dinner tokens to the players in advance.
