London:  Manchester United's English left-back Luke Shaw has signed a contract extension until 2023, the English Premier League club have announced.

Since joining the Red Devils in 2014, Shaw has made only 75 appearances for Man United, but he seems to be regaining the trust of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho throughout this season, reports Efe news agency.

"Since I came to United, it's been a whirlwind four years that have passed so quickly. I am very proud to sign my new contract and continue my stay at this great club.

I want to thank everybody that has stood by me and shown me huge support - the management, my teammates and the fans," the squad's official website cited Shaw as saying on Thursday.

Shaw was one of the many United players whose contracts are set to expire in June 2019, including Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea, French forward Antony Martial and Spanish midfielders Juan Mata and Ander Herrera.

Shaw is the first of the group to sign an extension.
