Man nabbed for sexually abusing niece

Udhagamandalam: A man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing his eight-year-old niece, while the girl's mother was held for not complaining about the incident in this tourist town, police said Thursday.

According to police, the 47-year-old man allegedly sexually abused his niece over a period of time and the mother kept quiet despite the girl complaining to her.  

The matter came to light when her school teachers noticed her sitting silent and not concentrating in studies and questioned her.  They immediately lodged a complaint with the local All Women Police Station.

The man and woman were arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act Wednesday midnight, police added.
