Tiles with photographs of PM and CM of Madhya Pradesh removed from PMAY houses
INDORE: PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) houses in Jhabua Petlawad area have been removing the tiles that are embodied with photos of PM Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan after Congress objected to them.
The state government had told the MP high court on September 19th, that these tiles would not be installed in any PMAY house. The HC had then ordered that the tiles should be removed within three months.
As per government officials, 234 PMAY houses were built in Petlawad and each had a 45cmx60cm tile, which bears the slogan ‘Sabka Apna Ghar Ho Apna’ and photos of the PM and CM, on the doorway.
A similar tile was installed in the kitchen. Local bodies were directed in April to install them in every house.
But with last month’s court order, the process of their removal began. And then the model code came into force.
Congress workers registered a complaint to the Election Commission that the tiles were a violation of the code, which was leading the collector to have them removed on priority basis.
