The chief medical officer's probe report submitted to the district magistrate held Dr Rajbir Singh, in-charge of the burn ward of the district hospital, and his junior Dr Anurag Gupta responsible for the child's death.   “I have recommended the state government to take appropriate action against Dr Rajbir Singh, who did not show up at the hospital when informed about the emergency case of the four-year-old child. Dr Anurag Gupta, who is working on a contractual basis, was also found negligent. Dr Gupta's salary increment has been stopped. Further, I have warned the chief medical superintendent of the district hospital Dr R K Pandey to ensure that no such negligence happens in future,” DM Neha Sharma said.

According to Anshu’ father, Pawan alias Bunty, “After giving first aid in the hospital on Saturday afternoon, the doctor and the nursing staff did not come to the ward for follow-up action on the boy's treatment. My son had suffered only 25% burns but, due to the negligence of the doctors, he died of infection.”

On Saturday afternoon, Bunty’s wife Anita poured kerosene on herself and her three children and set herself on fire after the couple had a heated argument over financial problem. At the time of incident, their three kids, were in the house. The three children attempted to save their mother but two of them died while Anshul survived with 25% burn injuries.
