Re-orienting approach to employment

Update: 2019-02-08 05:30 IST

The prime importance of Smart cities and the concept of revival of ancient crafts, opportunity to innovate, and to engage community at large in economic activity has been dealt in detail by Karuna Gopal. Best article of the day.

It recollects to my mind in 1950's every high school/ middle school used to have moral, crafts and drawing classes which perhaps motivated many children to choose different careers in those days.

That was a golden era for  today's elders. Now there are umpteen opportunities. But channelising the childrens' aspirations is the main problem with elders as also of the state and central governments. An irreparable loss has already been done to the elementary and high school study.

Encouraging corporate culture of study do contributed some economic development in the aspect of varied opportunities. But it killed the villages prosperity where due and reasonable opportunities are not at all provided by providing suitable syllabus in tune with rural upliftment.

The ITI institutions done a wonderful job. All industrial companies prefer an ITI candidate instead of an Engineering graduate. That was the quality of present-day engineering graduates. The IT companies  are complaining about the same time and again.

In the given circumstances the points mentioned in this article by Karuna Gopal are noteworthy to be implemented by all state governments. If all the state governments are concerned with the welfare of the poor and the down trodden, then what if any central government comes in their way. The implementation must come from states.

Instead of rattling with the announcements of loan waivers, the prudent measure is to promote our ancient crafts with a thirst to modernise the things in the best possible way. That gives a full meal to the needy and unemployed youth. Is it not? Let us ponder over.
