We never think before eating that food might have addictive nature, But yes it is proven too.. and Addiction can be a dangerous thing. which can cause several ill effects on your body. Though food addictions are not as lethal as drug addictions, they can still do a lot of harm to your health.

It has been found out that the most addictive food items are generally processed and contain either high amounts of salts or sugars both. When we munch on these food itmes, the reward centre in our brains get activated and releases dopamine and other feel good chemicals.  So, of course we end up eating them in high quantity as the more we eat them, the more reward our brain seeks. So, it is important as the more we learn about these addictive food items and map out strategies to stop consuming them regularly. Here are the food items that are dangerously addictive in nature as Drugs.

CHOCOLATES

The many delectable chocolates which have become a staple food for kids and adults and for gym goers in many countries, This universal food item owes its history to the Aztecs who used this wonderful treat as currency. Chocolates contain a particular stimulant called Theobromine which is known to uplift your mood and increase your mood concentration. This component makes chocolates highly addictive. Still, it is comapratively better than milk chocolates which would make an addict out of you with their high fat composition.

FRENCH FRIES

Fried potato sticks the crisps are bound to be very addictive and they are made even more so because of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG). It is a flavouring agent often used by your favourite restaurant chains to enhance the taste of the french fries. A n irrestible comfort food for many, french fries can be dangerous as they are high in fats and salts.

SODA/CARBONATED DRINKS/ LEMONADE/ICED TEA

Not only the carbonated drinks but even bottled lemonade and iced tea are some of the most addictive food products in the world. These beverages provide us with a very few nutrients. If any, but are high in sugars. The sugar in the soda create that need to drink more and more of them.  Studies have shown that teenagers who did'nt drink soda for three days reported headaches, cravings and other drug withdrawl symptoms.

POTATO CHIPS

Anytime anyplace the goodness of potatoes when deep fried and seasoned with lots of salt can not be matched with any other thing in the world. Potato chips which are highly processed and yet are bound to get a rush when you munch on them as they are both salty and crunchy. They do not really fill you up and thus you end up eating them way too much such a nature of potato chips make them really addictive.

CAKES BAKERY COOKIES

The worlds favourite sweet items count on everyone as one cannot resist from splurging on them and who would you blame for it? Cookies and Cakes, with a heavy dose of sugar and delicious flavourings, can be highly addictive. Many cakes also have really addictive addictive high fructose corn syrup in their frosting which makes them both so alluring and dangerous for your health. These baked goodies can cause you a lot of harm

CHEESE

Cheese has a component called Casomorphin which attaches itself to the neurotransmitters in the brain which further releases dopamine. Also with high levels of cholesterol and fats,  Cheese can be good if eaten in moderation but its addictive properties can prove to be bad for your health
