Celebration of the anointment of Lord Bahubali at Ratnagiri begins
DHARMASTHALA: On Saturday the occasion of the fourth edition of anointment of Lord Bahubali at Ratnagiri of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, D Veerendra Heggade, the dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala and his family led the proceedings to begin the three-day mahamastakabhisheka.
It started with jalabhishek of 1,008 kalashas containing purified water followed by pouring of tender coconut water on the monolith. Next was the offering of sugarcane juice to the Lord which was followed by pouring of milk as part of the rituals. Kalka churna was offered next. A generous offering of turmeric turned the idol yellow, which was thoroughly cleansed when the devotees performed the ‘kashaya abhisheka’.
They showered flower petals on the idol, a garland was offered and arathi was performed.
As a person who is opting for the jayamangala kalash could be accompanied by three persons, the ones who have bought the divya kalash and shraddha kalash could take 8 and 15 people to the scaffolding for performing l the rituals.
