Rich tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi on death anniversary

Hyderabad: Rich tributes were paid to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 71th death anniversary on Wednesday. It was on the same day in 1948 when Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse. 

Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Home Minister Mahmood Ali, Telangana Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya and other leaders paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Bapughat in Langar Houz. They recalled his services for the nation and appealed to all people to follow his ideals to come up in their lives. 

They also participated in the all-religious prayer meeting and observed silence for two minutes. 

Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi and other officials were also present on the occasion. 

Meanwhile, Congress leaders including TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi by offering flowers to his statue and portrait in Gandhi Bhavan. 

Tributes were also paid to Mahatma Gandhi at a programme held in the State Legislative Assembly premises.
