Karnataka government plans re-publishing of textbooks after outcry

 Institute seeks to set up District Recourse Centres in all districts of the state to provide academic support. The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has proposed to the Department of Primary and Secondary Education that it will inaugurate District Recourse Centres (DRCs) across all the districts in the state. 

TISS proposes to provide academic support to the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) in the State to rise as vibrant educational resource centres. TISS, in its proposal, put light on the need for teacher training institutes to forge strong relationships with schools.

Karnataka has recently adopted an Elementary Teacher Education Curriculum that puts focus on pre-service education as a self-learning, reflective process. Experts said that when schools teachers share their stories, teacher educators will get an understanding of ground reality. At the same time, teacher educators could help teachers to get in touch with innovative practices and theoretical underpinnings for teaching practices. A student-teacher during these converse could gain insights that would give him or her a solid grounding to start her profession.
