Private ITIs students left in the lurch in Khammam district
Khammam: The students, who secured seats in either the government or private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Khammam district are confronted with a peculiar predicament as they cannot get admission into the institutes due to “technical glitches.”
The Department of Employment and Training had invited applications from students for allotting seats in government and private ITI institutions for the academic year 2018-19. A good number of students, who applied for different courses in the ITIs, secured seats both in government and private institutions.
The officials also completed the process of certificate verification between June 21 and 30 for general category candidates and between June 2 and 3 for those differently abled candidates. The Department of Employment and Training had allotted seats to students in various government and private ITIs across the State and communicated it to students on June 10.
Here lies the twist. Within a few hours of communicating the allotment of seats to the students, the Department of Employment and Training told the candidates that the seats allotted to them were cancelled. The department said the process would be taken up afresh from July 15.
The Kothagudem ITI Prinicipal Kishan said technical glitches had led to cancellation of allotment of seats. Allotment of seats would be taken from
July 15, he said.
