The three-day theatre festival ‘Srujan-18’ kick-started recently at Ravindra Bharathi is a delight to watch for theatre lovers with its unique plays and skits. 

The festival is jointly organised by  Udaan Performing Arts and Department of Language and Culture, Government of Telangana. 

The festival began with the play ‘Charandas Chor’ written by Habeeb Tanvir and directed by Saurabh Gharipukar.  The play is steeped in paradox simply because the title character Charandas in spite of being a thief is really honest, sympathetic and truthful.

The theme of the play as has been pointed out; truth and lie go hand in and. People who deceive and cheat others turn and contradiction of the society and the human nature in the dramatic umbrella.  

The next play was ‘Pagla Ghoda’ staged by the artists including Jonas David, Akshay Kokala, Vishal Saxena, Jay Jha and Shailaja Chaturvedi. 

On Saturday, the play ‘Ranangan’ will be staged. The play is staging again in the city because of the audience’s demand. Written by Marathi author Vishwas Patil, the play ‘Ranangan’ is based on the third battle of Panipat between Marathas and Afghan Emperor Shah Abdali.
