Corporators, ex-MLC inspect Ashoorkhanas for Moharrram

Darushifa: As part of review of arrangements for upcoming month of Moharram, corporators Mirza Riyaz ul Hassan Effendi of Dabeerpura, Syed Sohail Quadri of Pathergatti and former MLC Syed Altaf Hyder Razvi along with officials inspected the Ashoorkhanas - house of mournings - in Old City. The GHMC, Waterworks and Electricity officials were to ensure the pending works and to provide hassle-free arrangements during the entire month. They asked the contractors to complete the tasks within the specific time and before the beginning of Moharram. 

Former MLC informed that the State government had sanctioned an amount of Rs 50 lakh for the renovation of roof of Aza Khane-e- Zehra for which there was need for taking permission from Archaeology Department. He asked the officials of GHMC to complete the works at Ashoorkhana Hazrat Abbas in Chatta Bazar and Dewan Devdi’s Yaadgar-e-Hussaini, Ashoorkhan-e-Masoomeen and other important structures at the earliest.  

A few days back Dabeerpura division, Dabeerpura area corporator also made padayatra in the area and inspected Purani Haveli and surrounding areas as part of ensuring the arrangements. The corporator also inspected the roads and the space for footpath and also enquired with the people about their problems and assured to resolve the same.
