Demand for one rupee water connection rises
Jubilee Hills: Telangana Water Board department has taken a decision to provide water connection at one rupee to all the Below Poverty Line (BPL) households in the state in 2016. Now the demand for this water connection for rupee one is increasing day by day.
In Greater Hyderabad, there are 20 divisions, till now 50,443 applications they received for water connection and 38,693 has been sanctioned and 36,255 have been given connections. Under ‘Urban Mission Bhagiratha’ scheme in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) circles, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Board and Sewerage Board (HMWS SB) had set a target to provide one lakh water connections in this year.
Salomy, water board manager of Jubilee Hills says, “We are providing water connections to all the beneficiaries in our division. We received around 2,164 applications and 1,790 connections were given in our division. All the BPL beneficiaries are paying rupee one and the other are paying
regular connection charges.
