100s of students gather at KBR National Park

Banjara Hills: The celebrations included games, quiz competitions and talks focused on creating awareness among youngsters and citizens on the significance of conserving tigers. The volunteers and HyTiCos staff engaged participants through poster presentations and other visuals on tiger ecology prey counting and volunteering opportunities among several other themes.

Imran Siddiqui, Assistant Director - Conservation Science with Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) India and co-founder of HyTiCoS said, “Celebrating Tiger Day along with India’s passionate youth provides a great platform to involve the people and garner their support through awareness on the need for tiger conservation.

Protecting tigers indirectly protects many other species that make up the ecological community of its habitat, which is why tigers are considered an umbrella species. HyTiCoS is committed to the cause and has been collaborating with the forest department to take effective measures to protect and expand habitats of wild tigers in Telangana”

Shivani Dogra, curator, Nehru Zoological Park said, “It is mostly through collective efforts that we can address the decline of wild tiger numbers. We are proud to host the Tiger Day event this year and hope to make a positive impact on many young minds through the activities.” In this program Amala, Andrew Fleming and Khaleequr Rehman also participated.
