Kodekal dalits approach National SC Commission seek justice
Andole: A group of representatives of Scheduled Caste community of Kodekal village in Andole mandal in Sangareddy district who were ostracised by the upper castes met member of National SC Commission K Ramulu on Thursday and sought justice for them. In the presence of state president of Ambedkar Seva Samithi Kondapuram Jagan, General Secretary P Sekhar, the Dalits petitioned to the SC Commission’s member at Hyderabad urging to take steps to deliver justice to them by filing SC, ST atrocity case against the upper castes for ostracising them in the village regarding a land issue.
The excommunicated Dalits alleged that the people belong to the upper castes atrociously obstructed and attacked them without any proper reason as their community wanted to build a compound wall around a prayer place which belong to their community two months back in the village. Moreover, the entire village with 1,200 population had ostracised the 30 families of SC community from communicating or cooperating to them. The village elders also announced imposition of Rs 10,000 as fine if any person in the village speaks or cooperates to the Dalits who contributes 22 per cent of the total population. Though the victims complained with, the police did not file any case against the attackers and not even took any action against the attackers and expressed their helpless condition.
Even the RDO and DSP who visited the village also could not bring the reconciliation between the Dalits and the rest of the village and the issue is still burning in the Kodekal village which is 24 km away from the district headquarters, said the state secretaries of Jai Bharat Immaiah, Durgaprasad and other Dalits of the village. Responding to the petition, SC Commission’s member K Ramulu called up the Collector and DSP to take actions against the accused by filing SC, ST atrocity cases. Still the issue is not resolved; he would visit the village himself to solve the problem, said one of the villagers quoting the member of the SC Commission.
