14 child labours rescued at Gajwel

Gajwel:  As many as 14 child labour were rescued during Operation Muskan-IV conducted by Gajwel Division In-charge Prasad along with the personnel on Tuesday here in the limits of Gajwel Municipality. 

The police said during the fourth phase of month long special drive, 6 under-aged girl children and 8 boys who were illegally hired as labourers at a few establishments of Apurva Shopping Mall, National Footwear, Swargam Mobile shop, Laxmi Balaji Fertilisers, Famous Tech, Bhavani Servicing centre and Srivani Medical Shop in the town.

The children were freed from the hiring of the child labour by the private employers and were sent to the Child Welfare Committee at Siddipet district headquarters and said the management and the owners of the establishments would be counselled by the Assistant Labour Officer regarding the illegal hiring of child labour and would be served legal notices to the shops. To curb the children labour, several teams have been working in the district, said the SI who urged the people to inform the police or CWC about the child labour by calling on 1098 or 100 to rescue the children from the clutches of forced labour hiring.

The main aim of the ‘Operation Muskan’ is to prevent child trafficking and rescue children from persons who tried to engage them in begging, sexual trade and other antisocial activities. Under this programme, specially trained police teams would screen all children residing in shelter homes, railway platforms, bus stands, roads and religious places. They would also extract required information from these children tactfully, the officer noted.
