Contract jr lectures stage protest seeking transfers

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS BIE) here on Thursday, following scores of Contract Junior Lecturers (CJLs) staging a protest. Police had a tough time in preventing the agitators trying to gain entry into the BIE office premises to stage a protest. It may be mentioned here that the CJLs have been demanding the Board to extend the transfer policy on part with the regular lecturers working in the government junior colleges.

The agitating CJLs said that most of them have to travel across a district or two to reach their job location on daily basis putting them under pressure. It was in such circumstances that one CJL had died while on his way to the college from Ranga Reddy district, they pointed out. However, the board officials said that there was no provision of transfer for the CJLs. But, the issue would be placed before the State government and it would implement whatever order it gives, they said. However, the CJLs vowed to continue their protest.
