On a mission to make women self-employed

Bagh Amberpet: To empower and make women self-reliant, Padmavathi Mahila Udyog centre in Bagh Amberpet has been providing training opportunities at a minimum fee and is also giving earning opportunity for women.  

This training centre offers tailoring, beautician and spoken English courses for women. Padmavathi, the corporator of Bagh Amberpet had taken the initiative to open this training centre to provide employment opportunity and make women self-reliant. The centre is also working on no plastic mission where they are creating awareness of hazards of plastic and also encouraging people to use eco-friendly products like cloth bags, steel, mud, ceramic and glass items.

Kanaka Durga, coordinator, says, “We train ladies in different sectors and skills and creating employment opportunities at their own place. Within a span of one and half years, we could reach out to more than 200 women. She also added that we also have Women of Wellness (WOW) group to encourage women entrepreneurship.

Madhavi who got trained and employed says, “I’m really happy to associate with this training centre because I got trained and also got self-employed at my own place instead of going far and do job.” Kasthuri Vijayalakshmi, who also got self-employed says, “Getting training for a minimum fees and employed is a great achievement for poor and middle class women. We are getting trained on our own interest.”
