CMA students showcase their talents at state-level convention

​Hyderabad: About 900 CMA (Cost and Management Accountancy) students and commerce students from Hyderabad and surrounding areas gathered at The Institute of Engineers, Khairatabad, Hyderabad, for ‘CMA Prabhanjanotsav’, the State level students’ convention on Friday. CMA students showcased their talents and skills through various intellectual, literary and cultural programmes. 

The full-day programme organised by the Hyderabad Chapter of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) had a festive atmosphere and was buzzing with activity. The day-long convention started with a performance on patriotic song ‘Vandemataram’. Following which a traditional dance performance on Telugu song from Sagara Sangamam was made.

The august gathering of ICAI veterans, office bearers, industry fraternity viz. Amit Anand Apte, President – ICAI; Suresh R. Gunjalli, Chairman, Southern India Regional Council (SIRC), ICAI; Dr. I. Ashok, Central Council Member (CCM), ICAI, H. Padmanabham CCM-ICAI; Dr. P.V.S. Jagan Mohan Rao, Presidetn – South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA); Dr. Chandra Sekhar Rajanala, Chairman – Coaching Admin. & Student Services, ICAI Hyderabad Chapter and Munisekhar Darapaneni, Chairman- ICAI Hyderabad Chapter and others were present on the occasion. 

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony Amit Anand Apte, President – ICAI said that “students should be brand ambassadors… may be for your school, or ICAI or maybe even for India. Don’t be one among many, create your own identity”, he said. He further asked students to be learners all their lives. He asked students to conquer their fears, said that there is nothing that one cannot achieve. He was happy to see more than 80 per cent participants were girl students.

“The programme ‘Innovation through PPT’ had a 10-minute time limit in which one had to present a theme based on business idea, environment or technology which saw good participation from students” said Munisekhar Darapaneni, Chairman- ICAI Hyderabad Chapter. 

In their presentation students discussed different ideas worth exploring such as Technology for making light weight school bags with card board boxes; Electricity consumption trackers; Solar bikes; Food and travel on wheels: Environment changes and its effects; Help India App to enable users to volunteer for their favourite causes whenever they are free; and many more such innovative ideas.

Indian Traditional Fashion Show saw good participation by students. It is a misconception that the youth today do not prefer Indian attire. The students dressed up in sarees, salwar kameez, pancha & shirts, etc. The interest with which the youth participated in the Indian Traditional Fashion Show shows it informed Dr. Chandra Sekhar Rajanala, Chairman – Coaching Admin. & Student Services, ICAI Hyderabad Chapter.

The day saw final competitions of various competitions held for students such as Elocution, Debate, Test your Knowledge, Innovation through PPT and Quiz, Rubik’s Cube and Chess. Cultural programs such as Singing (Solo / Duet / Group), Dance (Solo / Group), Intrumental, Beatboxing, Mimicry, Indian Traditional Fashion Show, Face Painting and Solo Acting saw participation by excited students eager to showcase their talent.

The preliminary rounds of the various events and programs were held on February 12 at CMA Bhavan, Himayat Nagar, Hyderabad. Students of CMA and Commerce students from various colleges from Hyderabad and surrounding areas viz. Avanti Degree College, Aurora’s Degree College, Jahnavi Degree College, Indian Institute of Management and Commerce – Hyderabad, Osmania University College for Women – Koti, Kamala Nehru Polytechnic for Women, etc. and others participated. All together about 1200 students participated in the preliminary rounds. The finalists of the various competition were to be announced at the end of the event, still awaited .
