DRI officials seize 93 lakh worth ganja
Hyderabad: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials of Hyderabad Zone on Thursday seized Rs 93 lakh worth ganja from a lorry at Siddipet Town. According to DRI officials, based on specific intelligence that narcotic drugs were being illegally transported, they launched an operation during the early hours on Thursday and intercepted a lorry and a sedan car which was escorting the lorry at Siddipet town.
The lorry was found to be carrying coal. On thorough examination it was found that polythene bags containing 621.3 kg ganja were concealed under the coal. The contraband was originating from Visakhapatnam Agency area and was destined towards Tandur of Vikarabad district. Officials said the value of the seized ganja in the grey market would be around Rs 93.19 lakh. The police arrested three persons and seized the lorry and the sedan car under the provisions of NDPS Act,1985.
