Burglars murder man, run off with Rs 50 lakh and gold

Burglars murdered a senior citizen in Hyderabad after stealing Rs 50 lakh and 40 tola gold worth Rs 10 lakh from his duplex home at Rajendranagar on Friday. 

The victim, identified as Rajendra Prasad Agarwal, was a resident of Srimalle Colony with his wife Taramani Agarwal. 

Three burglars broke into the house at around 1.45am on Friday where they tied Taramani up. Later, Prasad, who was an asthma patient was taken off the oxygen mask and was smothered to death using a pillow. It is learned that Prasad was dependent on oxygen cylinders to breathe at night.

The Hyderabad police were alerted by the wife who pretended to be dead and set herself free after the burglars left the house. While she rushed her husband to the nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Four special teams have been set up to nab the accused. A case has been registered under Section 302 and 394 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the investigation is underway.
