Actor Ali Fazal says Indian film industry should not fall back on formulas but should take chances.

Fazal interacted with media at the cover launch of Stardust December 2018 Issue on Friday.

The actor was last seen int he Digital series, Mirzapur. When asked about the receiving some warnings about working in a Digital series he said, "From day one I knew there is something in it (Mirzapur). I am very instinctive which can also sometimes backfire and go against me, but this one I just knew something was right about it. I have also put one foot on the other side of the world. So all these opinions of failing with web series were coming from here but I know what is happening in the West right now. The web has taken over a lot of things and it has changed the game.

It has not removed the cinema but there is room for anyone now. And if we have to play at a global scale, I think we should also give it a chance. We ought to take chances and not fall back all the time on formulas. I think that's where we have gotten stuck. We saw last year, in fact solely on Fridays we have seen things change and I think it is wonderful."

Ali made a Hollywood debut in 'Fast and Furious' franchise, part 7. Since then he has appeared in films like, 'Victoria & Abdul' and 'For Here Or To Go?' more in the Western film industry.

Talking about 'Mirzapur' and the kind of response the Amazon Original series has received, Fazal said, "People are loving it. Clearly, people in India love violence. Apart from that shit of people have appreciated the acting. Also standing alongside Pankaj ji feels very cool. I have known him since 'Fukrey' but the dynamics are different here. So it was a lot of fun."

In commercial cinema Fazal last appeared in 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' and will be next seen in an upcoming romantic comedy directed by Prakash Raj, titled, 'Tadka'
