Two-day seminar on skill sets begins in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: A two-day national seminar on the topic ‘Skill Set Through Education: Experiments and Explorations’ by Economics and English departments of Maris Stella College commenced here on Tuesday.
The seminar is being organised to mark the silver jubilee year of PG departments of Economics and English.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest K Rama Devi, president of ALEAP, alumnus of the college, spoke on women empowerment and women entrepreneurship which are possible only through skill set through education.
“Skill is the bridge between job and workforce. Skill development is key to improve household productivity, employability and income earning opportunities for women and also for enhancing sustainable development.
The economy becomes more productive, innovative and competitive through the existence of more skilled human potential,” she said.
Guest of honour Prof MVN Sharma, former registrar, department of economics, Acharya Nagarjuna University explained the importance of essential skills that are used in the workplace and in everyday life to sustain anywhere.
Dr Sr Jasintha Quadras, college principal explained the importance of life skills.
Dr K Sandhya, convener of the seminar in her speech explained the theme of the seminar and said that this seminar was organised to create awareness among students about the importance of skill development in the modern scenario.
A souvenir was released by the chief guest Ramadevi on the occasion.
