Chandrababu Naidu to initiate works worth 1,368 cr

Tirupati: As part of implementation of smart city project(SCP) aimed at improving facilities in a big in the pilgrim city, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will initiate various development works under the project with a total estimated cost of Rs 1,368 crore here on Monday.

According to officials, the development works include Rs 684 crore `smart streets’ and elevated corridor christened as Garuda Varadhi which is taken up under SCP. The TTD will bear 67 per cent of the cost of Garuda Varadhi while the remaining  cost will be borne by the municipal corporation of Tirupati (MCT).The six km long flyover(elevated corridor) originates at Mango Market on the cityoutskirts and connect Nandi Circle near Kapila Theertham. 

The pilgrims coming from outside on their own transport will be able to proceed straight to Alipiri, avoiding vehicular traffic in the city. Chief Minister will also initiate infrastructure development covering 40 corporation schools which will be converted into `smart campuses,’ beside providing facilities like health, furniture, sports and games. The total cost is estimated at Rs 14.71 crore and the project would be completed in 9 months.

The health initiative would cover the 800 sanitary workers and 3100 students studying in the municipal schools. The works include
ground mounted solar power plants (6 mw) and floating solar plants (4 mw).

Integrated city commanding control centre was planned at a cost of Rs 288.95 crore which would be completed in 18 months for effective security and surveillance systems in the city and also for better traffic management. MeeSeva, Mee Kosam and Puraseva services will be linked with the city command and control centre. 

The development of Vinayak Sagar tank in the city with an expenditure of Rs 46.57 crore in two phases in twelve months. Mechanised multi-level parking  near Railway station and bus stand with a cost of Rs 14.73 crore and Underground electric cable system Rs 236 crore. Chief minister will also address a public meeting at Balaji Bus stand, near Alipiri after initiating the development works under SCP
