Vijayawada: A national political party ‘Nari Shakti’ was launched here on Sunday. The party aims to ensure equal rights and justice to women in the country, said the party founder and national convener Kavuri Lavanya.

A rally was taken out to mark the launch of the party from Alankar centre to Kandukuri Kalyana Mandapam. The logo of the party with  Jhansilakshmi Bai image was launched on the occasion with the motto ‘Women Empowerment by Women Power’. Addressing the huge gathering at the launch venue, Lavanya stressed the need for a separate political party for women to solve their problems.

She said none of the political parties was focusing on the problems faced by women in society. She said that only with political power the women in the society can solve their problems and realise their demands.

Lavanya said that they would bring change in the education system which is dominated by the corporate and the private institutions. Most of the countries in the world were giving equal rights to women unlike India where women are lagging behind in all spheres, she lamented.

Questioning why women were still backward after 70 years of independence in India she said that in China men and women strive equally. Though the government promised 33 per cent reservation but not implemented in reality, she said while adding that women were being treated as vote bank.
