Bulgarian national held for cloning ATM cards
Visakhapatnam: The City Cyber Crime police arrested one Bulgarian national Valkanov Miroslav Andreanov, on the charges of Master and VISA foreign ATM cards cloning here on Saturday. The police registered a case against the accused under C and D Information Technology Act.
Revealing the crime details, Assistant Commissioner of Police, City Task Force, Mahendra Mathe said that accused reached to Kolkata on January 31 on travel VISA and procured a laptop, card cloning slot machine, Airtel SIM and 160 blank ATM cards.
Later, he arrived in the city on February 3, and stayed in star hotels in the city.
He used to telegram account with Indian SIM and received messages from unknown accounts as links photos of sendspace.com files which contain credit and debit card numbers of foreigners along with PIN Numbers, country name, the ACP said.
Later, he used laptop and cloning device and copied one by one these card numbers onto empty cards and cloned 76 cards. The accused used some of the cards for ATM withdrawal in ICICI Bank in Ram Nagar, Jagadamba Area and Diamond park areas and withdrawn over Rs 13 lakhs and he also bought 2,000 Dollars from different places in the city by exchange with Indian currency.
When he was moving suspicious manner at various ATMs, the police inquired about him and found that he is staying in a big star hotel in the city. Inspector of Police V Gopinath and his team of Cyber Crime PS apprehended the accused Valkanov Miroslav Andreanov while he is cloning some cards at this room in the hotel.
During interrogation, the accused stated that he worked as bar man since 2010 and his friend took him to an unknown person who said that they would arrange travel tickets to Kolkata where he would receive laptop and Card Cloner machine, Airtel SIM card and empty cards for card cloning and offered 20 per cent commission on total money withdrawn from ATM’s in India, the Task Force ACP detailed about the accused.
The police recovered card cloning machine, 160 blank and cloned ATM cards, 30 numbers of ATM withdrawal slips, cash of Rs 13,03,700, foreign currency USA Dollars $ 2,000, a laptop, phones, original Passport of Republic of Bulgaria and Visa and Bulgarian identity card.
