Books help in updating knowledge: Minister Narayana
Nellore : Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana gave a call to the people, especially students, to inculcate the habit of reading books. Though many western countries are ahead in science and technology they still read books while on journey and we too need to inculcate book reading for updating knowledge, he said.
He along with the Agriculture Minister S Chandramohan Reddy laid foundation for the new building of District Central Library located in Rebalavari Street in the city on Sunday On the occasion, he said that book reading directly impacts the mind in updating knowledge levels and provides relief to the mind.
There are 1,900 libraries across the state which include 60 libraries in the district, there are around 65,000 books in the district library. There will be good facilities for the people who visit the G+3 model structure and directed the OSD to discuss with the District Collector for necessary arrangements of the youngsters who appear for competitive examinations.
Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said a state-of-the-art building is going to be constructed for the library with Rs.3 crore for the convenience of the visitors. He suggested to maintain traditional structure similar to the old one using the valuable timber for the new construction.
Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Dasari Rajarao said that they would appoint library staff on outsourcing pattern for working at various libraries in the district. State Mahila Finance Commission Chairman T Anuradha, Chairman of District Central Library K V Naidu, corporators Sailaja, Satyanarayana, Bhuvaneswara Prasad and others were present.
