Strictly enforce Model Code of Conduct, Returning Officers told

Chittoor: District Collector P S Pradyumna has directed the Returning Officers (ROs) to strictly enforce Model Code of Conduct once the Election Commission of India declares schedule for general elections. 

Addressing the ROs and other election related officials at Nagaiah Kalakshethram here on Monday, Pradyumna exhorted ROs to strive for achieving 90 per cent polling so that district can be declared as the best in the country.

He stated 99 per cent of pre-poll arrangements have been completed and instructed the ROs to create awareness among politicians, officials and media on model code of conduct, video surveillance and viewing teams, flying squad, auditing team and on election expenditure. He instructed all the ROs to submit him a daily report over the progress of the pre-poll arrangements. 

District SP Vikrant Patil stressed on better coordination between the polling and police personnel during elections. Earlier, the Collector has convened a meeting with the leaders of political parties at the Collectorate here.

He sought their consent for changing the location of 24 polling booths as he received proposals. Leaders of the political parties like V Surendra Kumar (TDP), Tikki Royal (Congress), Raghuram (YSRCP) and others were present in the meeting.
