‘Awareness camps on drugs, alcohol giving good results’
Eluru: Awareness programmes against drugs, alcohol and other vices were giving positive results, said Excise and Prohibition Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena.
Speaking at an awareness seminar organised by Jagruthi at CRR Reddy College here on Saturday, Meena said that people were responding to the awareness programmes and distancing themselves from bad habits.
The programmes helped them take care of health. Earlier, country liquor was eradicated under Navodaya programme. About 94 excise staff were not taking alcohol and it shows how successful their department in propagating against drugs and alcoholism.
The Excise Commissioner flagged off a rally organised against habit of drinking and drugs in the city. District Superintendent of Police Raviprakash and MLC Ramu Surya Rao accompanied him.
The Commissioner joined Collector Praveen Kumar and MLC Surya Rao in inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by the excise staff. He announced that the staff donating blood would be considered during promotions.
